Map Purpose
Help visitors locate dog-friendly businesses and landmarks in Hood River with a map that’s both informative and visually engaging.

Challenge
Design a clean and practical street map that includes a large number of points of interest while maintaining visual appeal and integrating playful touches.

Project Description
This map of Hood River was created for a guidebook promoting the city as a dog-friendly destination. Using a numbered pinpoint system, it highlights various dog-friendly spots, businesses, and local attractions. To better suit a pedestrian audience, the map includes a custom walking-time scale in place of standard distance measurements. Although the map was ultimately unused, it remains a strong example of user-focused design.

Illustrations
Neighborhoods and blocks are represented by simple geometric building shapes, giving structure to the map without overwhelming it. The minimal style keeps the focus on the content while suggesting the charm of this small Oregon town.
